37°C = body temp · 38°C = fever line · 180°C = moderate oven
How this is calculated
°F = °C × 9⁄5 + 32 · °C = (°F − 32) × 5⁄9
Body temperature 37°C is 98.6°F, a 180°C oven is 356°F, and −40 is the one point where both scales agree. Temperature is an affine conversion — multiply AND shift — which is why doubling °C never doubles °F.
The chart pins the temperatures people actually check: fever thresholds (38°C/100.4°F), weather from freezing to heatwave, and the common oven settings (160/180/200/220°C).
Frequently asked questions
What is the Celsius to Fahrenheit formula?
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Example: 20°C × 1.8 + 32 = 68°F. Going back: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9, so 98.6°F − 32 = 66.6 × 5/9 = 37°C.
What is 37 degrees Celsius in Fahrenheit?
98.6°F — normal body temperature. The common fever threshold of 38°C is 100.4°F, which is why that pair appears in every clinic leaflet and in the chart above.
What temperature is the same in both scales?
−40. Setting °C = °F in the formula gives x = 1.8x + 32, so x = −40. It is the only crossing point, and a favorite trick question.
What is 180°C in Fahrenheit for baking?
356°F — recipes usually round it to 350°F. The chart carries 160/180/200/220°C (320/356/392/428°F), the four settings most ovens and recipes actually use.
